Digestion of food #16 | Human physiology

 Digestion of nucleic acid :

(1) In buccal cavity = No digestion

(2) In stomach = No digestion

(3) In small intestine :-

(c) Succus entericus -

Digestion of protein :-

(1) In buccal cavity = No digestion

(2) In stomach = Denaturation of proteins

HCl ⟶ 3° ⟶ 2° ⟶ 1°

(3) In small intestine :-

(a) Bile juice = No digestion

(b) pancreatic juice :-

(c) Intestinal Juice :-

(i) By aminopeptidase

Peptides  ⟶  amino acid + Dipeptide

(ii) By dipeptidase

Dipeptide ⟶ amino acid + amino acid

Digestion of carbohydrates :

(1) In buccal cavity = enzyme salivary amylase

(2)In stomach= No digestion

(3) In small intestine :-

(a) Bile juice = No digestion

(b) pancreatic juice = pancreatic amylase (amylopsin)

(c) Intestinal Juice

Digestion of lipids :

(1) buccal cavity =  no digestion

(2) stomach = gastric lipase

(3) small intestine :-

(a) bile juice - emulsification of fats

(b) pancreatic juice = pancreatic lipase

(c) intestinal juice =  intestinal lipase

Common action of lipase is -

Lipid(in the presence of lipase)  ⟶  3 fatty acids + glycerol
