OSMOREGULATION
(I) If water deficit -
• Osmolarity increase
• Osmotic pressure increase
• Increase in Osmotic pressure is detected by osmoreceptor.
• These osmoreceptor induce hypothalamus.
• Hypothalamus induces posterior pituitary to release Anti-diuretic hormone (ADH).
• ADH causes reabsorbtion of water in DCT and collecting duct.
(II) If water is excess -
• If water is excess there is decrease in osmolarity and osmotic pressure.
• Osmoreceptor do not become active.
• Hypothalamus does not induce posterior pituitary to release ADH.
• No reabsorbtion of water in DCT and collecting duct
• Excess water is Loss out from body.
• This complete regulation by kidney is called Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System ( RAAS).
• Renin is a hormone but behave like enzyme.
